1st Training Group

The 1st Training Group is an organizational unit that contains all the training units of Baden-Powell Scouting. Rovers who are certified instructors are assigned to one or more Crews that fall under the 1st Training Group. For example:

1st Gilwell Crew - contains all BPS Rovers who hold Woodbeads
1st Scout Training Crew (Wolves) - contains all Rover Instructors belonging to Headquarters
3rd Scout Training Crew (Wolves) - contains all Rover Instructors belonging to the 3rd Charter Oak Scout Group
... and so on.

Rovers who hold Woodbeads are automatically assigned to the 1st Gilwell Crew. Rovers who hold the Rover Instructor Badge are automatically assigned to a Training Crew of the same number as their Scout Group. Members of these "virtual" Crews are available to lead courses as per their qualifications. All Training Crews are overseen by the Camp Chief, a member of the Headquarters Council.

Brownsea Rover Squire Training courses are offered one or more times in a year, depending on demand and instructor availability. Dates for 2008 Brownsea courses will be announced sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

Woodbeads courses will become available in 2008.
